It was July of 2008 when a group of photographers from the acclaimed student publication (The Bedan) met other photographers from San Beda Colleg Alabang on one of the games from season 84 in NCAA. Since then, San Beda College Photographers (Danna Lim, Tatz Sta. Juana, Elaine Javier, JC Laurito, JC Catindig, Magic Liwanag, Third Garcia, Kelly Navea) always meet at every game and go out after. From then on, they decided to establish a photography club.
San Beda College already had a photography club which they called RED EYE more than 10 years ago. But due to scarcity of members, the club was not able to comply on requirements needed for re-accreditation. The newly established photography club then looked for older members of the RED EYE and consulted some of them regarding the launch of the recent RED LENS. The former organization, Red Eye, boasts of a certain renowned writer of Basketbolista Magazine, Mr. Giderbert Malabute.

AFTER NCAA SEASON 84
After NCAA season 84, the group went back into focus on their work, family and academics. They rarely see each other and apart from participating in photo shoots for several school activities, they don’t get to spend time with people in their craft. Until one fateful day, Third Garcia met Julius Alcancia, Mark Clemente and Ryan Andaya in the streets of Mendiola while partaking in a rally shoot. They talked about the organization and the desired recognition that they wanted for the Red Lens Photography Club in San Beda College. They decided to apply the said club for San Beda College Accreditation and called for a meeting.
That same day, the group looked for potential members and officers to officially commemorate and after being satisfied with the results, they proceeded to apply Red Lens for college accreditation. They talked to the students who shared the same passion on photography and invited them to attend the said meeting.
That night, Mr. Gabriel Patag of San Beda College Alumni Association posted a note at bedista.com regarding the said launch of the Red Lens Photography Club. Mr. Patag is one of the most interested members to establish the Red Lens Photography Club to the SBCAA.
On February 18, 2009, Red Lens Photography Club had its first General Meeting and decided that the group should pursue the plan of applying for recognition and accreditation. They also established the constitution and by-laws after reviewing it. Present during that meeting were the pioneers: Ryan Suaverdez, Julius Alcancia, Mark Clemente, Lendl Layug, Third Garcia and JR Pascual.
Then you might as well say that the rest was history. The Red Lens Photography Club then proposed to be a recognized student organizations in San Beda College. They proved their worth by giving their very best during their defense with the Office of the Prefect of Student Affairs. And not only did they have to gather their very finest account of the organization but they faced and dealt with the Office’s demanding panel consisting of Prof. Matilde Santos, Dr. Bayani Matitu, Prof. Ma. Luz Jimenez, Ms. Liezel Rodriguez of OCGSA and Ms. Edaine Dy of CAS Student Council. Coinciding with what they expected, they aced the defense. The panel then proceeded to deliberate over the organization’s performance and finally gave them credit that they deserved. They were celebrated and accredited as one of the special interest organizations of San Beda College. Not bad for people who just take pictures and pulled their passion as one group.
